Nature Hiking with participants of the City of Mesa and City of Scottsdale Recreation Centers at Whispering Hope Ranch. This time we got to stay overnight. This Ranch is a great facility that is accessible and that makes camping feel like a luxury retreat.
Notice the wide path that is clear of major obstacles and debris, so that wheel chairs can freely travel to and from. |

We volunteered at “Day on the Lake” which was sponsored by Barrows’s Neurological Institute. Day on the lake gave participants a chance to experience and enjoy water sports. The water equipment included: jet skis, kayaks, water skis, fishing polls and boats. All equipment that could not be adapted to allow independent use, was aided by volunteers helping participants enjoy each water sport.
Here Shannon is using her own body weight and strength to provide security to a man who is unable to hold his own bodyweight (due to muscle and joint atrophy). |

Assisting children from Phoenix Children’s Hospital at Whispering Hope Ranch. We utilized fun and interactive activities to enhance physical and cognitive skills, such as scavenger hunts containing riddles for the children to solve. |
|
At Camp Paz for Kids, we were able to help facilitate therapeutic activities that taught children how to cope with death.
Fortunately, we were also able to help in the preliminary stages of planning and we provided ideas for future improvements during the evaluation phase of the program. |
