Arizona State Therapeutic Recreation Association

Welcome to ASTRA!

The Mission of the Arizona State Therapeutic Recreation Association (ASTRA), a member driven organization, is to promote professional excellence in therapeutic recreation. Learn more under the About ASTRA tab.

Arizona State Therapeutic Recreation Association (ASTRA) and National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG)

have teamed up to present a virtual conference the week of June 20, 2022.

The Arizona State Therapeutic Recreation Association (ASTRA) was founded to represent the interests and aspirations of therapeutic recreation professionals in Arizona. ASTRA is a chapter affiliate of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) and supports its definition of therapeutic recreation as the provision of treatment services and the provision of recreation services to persons with illnesses or disabling conditions.

The NVWG provides Veterans that require the use of a wheelchair to participate in sports opportunities for healing and empowerment each year. The partnership between NVWG and ASTRA aims to expand upon services provided in the State of Arizona for those with physical disabilities, and to provide professionals providing those services with the necessary training and experience.

Head to the "Get Involved" tab (then CEU Opportunities) for information to submit a proposals if you’re interested in sharing your knowledge and expertise with professionals across the Nation. We hope to see you all online at this virtual conference!
